DIOR NAIL SPARKLING POWDERS FROM VFNO 2013

Feast your eyes on these super sparkling, luxury nail powders from Dior!  These were released in Australia late September for Vogue Fashion Night Out.  I only just got around to playing with them - yes...I can't believe it took me this long, either! /:-\  (Silly phewl!)  It was actually quite difficult to figure out where to find these as it was advertised that Dior counters were doing a manicure event featuring this beauty, but failed to say exactly where!  Anyhoo, I managed to find them after making a few phone calls at Myer, Sydney (George Street, I think).  Apparently they had a whole heap of stock!  I wonder if that was coz no one knew where to find them. ;)  If you're lucky, they might still have them - you have to ask for them though as they weren't on display.
They only made a limited number of these.  >_<  Above is the little card that came with it indicating the specific number I have. ^_^  Ooh...don't I feel special. ;)
The set was beautifully packaged in a black matte box.  Inside you'll find a full-size (10 ml / 0.33 fl. oz) bottle of the Fixing Base and two smaller bottles (7ml / 0.23 fl. oz each) of of the sparkling powders in 'Sparkling Gold' and 'Sparkling Black'.  The applicator of the sparkling powders are a magnetic tip to easily pick up the tiny, delicate sparkling round glitter particles.  Very disco-like, yet, it doesn't look cheap, tacky or juvenile at all like some glittery nail polishes can look.

To apply, you apply a good coating of the Fixing Base on clean nail beds and while it's still wet, apply the sparkling powder over the top by gently dabbing magnetic applicator down flat so as not to remove any existing powder off the nail and filling in any gaps left behind.  You may wish to apply a Dior top coat for added security and longevity (just tap it down gently over top as well rather than in a stroking motion to avoid disturbing the sparkles).  Let it dry for at least five minutes.  Once completely dried, you can tidy up any excess sparkling powders around the nail area using a cotton tip and nail polish remover, or just rinse it off gently under running water.

The sparkling powder applicators do need to be cleaned with a nail polish remover after each use to ensure it picks up and applies the product cleanly and consistently every time it's used.

Overall, very easy to use.  I found the sparkle particles stayed on at least 3 days before noticeable chipping started to show (another day or two with Dior top coat applied).  Not long-lasting, but I can get over it coz these are just soooo purdy!!!

DIOR SPARKING GOLD
_________________________________________________________________________________

I am particularly enamoured by the 'Sparkling Gold'.  It looks so beautiful that I don't think it would be over the top at all to wear this on all digits - especially for a Christmas Party or New Year's Eve or other special occasion.  But, in the photos below, I just wore it on my ring finger while the rest are painted in Chanel Diwali as it was my first time to play with it.  Having done that, I've decided that I'm not really doing it any justice by not painting all my nails in Sparkling Gold.  The only thing that concerns me about that is the fact that there's only a small bottle of it and there a bit of wastage tends to be unavoidable during application.  I'm afraid I'll run out of these beauties soon than I'd like (which isn't cheap)! >_<  Ah well, it's there to be used and used to it's utmost potential.  So I will go for it this Christmas. ;)  The Manicurator has photos of this applied on all digits HERE.

There are of course, other ways to where this.  The possibilities are endless.  I love the way it looks as a glitter French tip shown by So Nailicious for instance.  Will definitely have to try that out soon. ^_^

For reference, my skin tone is a medium, olive, ~NC30-35 and all of these were photographed indoors using a strobe.
DIOR SPARKING BLACK
_________________________________________________________________________________

The sparkling black surprisingly still sparkles with silver and also looks like tiny poppy seeds or black caviar at the same time - giving an overall effect reminiscent of sequins when viewed at an angle.  In the photos below, I applied it on my ring finger also and paired it with Essie's Licorice.
Overall
Stunning.  I will have a lot of fun with these and even though I'm not usually a glitter nail polish fan, these Dior Sparkling Powders have certainly turned that around.  They are certainly a glitter of a different (sophisticated) kind.

Availability
For Aussies, if you're lucky, the Myer Sydney City (George St) Dior Counter may still have some in stock.  For those in the USA, these appear to be exclusive to Nordstrom.

Hope this was interesting/helpful.

Thanks for visiting! ^_^ xo
