You all know how much I love hair masques by now so here are my thoughts on one of the most popular ones about: the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque.
I've never tried this brand before. I know, I know - how have I managed that? I suppose because of reading all of the reviews available I never felt like it really stood out to me from any of the other great deep conditioners raved about by bloggers. I even have a salon stockist in my home town but still they've avoided me until now and, to be honest, I feel like I've been missing out.
I now completely understand the hype and I also understand the multitude of awards.
I should start with the packaging. This is only a 30ml sachet but I like how the packaging theme is continued onto the smaller products with this brand as a lot of brands make their sample sizes or travel versions quite plain to keep costs down. The brown and green is a really good combination and the little pattern is cute without being 'too much'.
The conditioner is thick, a light taupe colour, and easy to manipulate through my hair. It also smells divine: lightly scented but fruity.
The scent transfers to the hair and lingers even after it's dry which is a bonus if, like me, you like your hair to smell clean but just like shampoo. 30ml is just the right trial size as it was enough to cover my thick, shoulder length hair. You'll probably need two of these sachets if your hair is really long and/or thicker than mine. I started at the ends (where I have the most damage) and worked up from there. I left it on for roughly 15 minutes before I rinsed it off and left my hair to air dry (see my No Heat Challenge as to why I'm not styling my hair as usual).
Containing Macadamia Oil, which nourishes, repairs and helps to fight frizz (as well as Argan Seed Oil which is renowned for it's excellent qualities for maintaining healthy and happy hair too) this conditioning masque promises to leave your hair feeling reconstructed and bring it back to life. Ingredients also include chamomile, algae and aloe extracts for extra hydration and improved elasticity.
My hair was left feeling really soft and it had a healthy shine to it. My curls were more defined and there was no 'weighed down' feeling at all. Frizz was minimal afterwards too.
I really like this product. I now understand why so many people love it but as I only got a couple of sachets to try out I would like to see how my hair fares with it over a more pro-longed time period or when I style it with heat too. Still, it's an excellent range: everything from shampoos and conditioners right through to finishing treatments and brushes. If I was given a choice of what I could try next I would be like a kid in a sweet shop. I might just ask for the Macadamia Luxe Intro Box for Christmas to see which other products I should buy full size because I will definitely be buying this masque full size and I'll be updating this blog when I have.
